A Raisin in the Sun
❮back
Chicago around 1955: a tenement in a working class slum by the railroad. There is only one bedroom, which means young Travis must sleep on the couch. Lena Younger, his grandma, dreams of a small house and a garden. All this might soon be possible but her son Walter-Lee has his own plan.
This resilient family bravely struggles to maintain its dignity in the face of pernicious racism. I wanted to reflect this, as well as a sense of timelessness, in the set.
